- Born in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, as a son of a premium timber dealer
His father is a former president of the National Federation of Premium Timber (Received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, 2015). - 1991
- Apprenticed at the master carpenter Sotoji Nakamura’s Sukiya Architecture Workshop in Kyoto
During his fi ve years of apprenticeship, he lived in a shared dormitory. Learned tea ceremony during this period. - 2002
